The Tempest

Shakespeare’s magical and strange last play – his poignant farewell to the stage – has love, tragedy, and comedy combined in equal measure, as the usurped Prospero draws his enemies to an enchanted island to exact his revenge.

Drawing intense focus from the theatrical nature of the play, The Tempest is an intrusive production, bringing the audience right into the heart of the magical isle. What follows is explosive, irreverent, and deeply heartfelt; a production which releases the lightness and dark of Shakespeare’s text, revealing a story which is at once playful and hilarious, but also broodingly disturbing. Featuring some of the finest of Cambridge University’s theatrical talent, this is not an event to be missed!

Arthur Przybyszewski owns a decrepit donut shop in the uptown neighborhood of Chicago. Franco Wicks, a black teenager who is his only employee, wants to change the shop for the better. This comedy-drama by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize–winning author Tracy Letts explores the challenges of embracing the past and the redemptive power of friendship.

Troy Theater
The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman and Members of the Tectonic Theater Project. Soon after the brutal murder of gay college student Matthew Shepard, outside of Laramie, Wyoming in 1998, Moises Kaufman, the leader of a New York theatre company went there and held interviews with Laramie residents about the murder, the media’s onslaught, and the trial of the men who killed him. From these interviews, Kaufman pieced together a play from the words of Laramie residents, verbatim, and without bias exploring the depths to which humanity can sink, and the heights of compassion we are also capable of.

Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece of comic nonsense turns the world of epic adventure on its head, as a peculiar crew,
guided by a blank map, voyage across the sea to hunt a mysterious creature. Edwin Roberts and local author
Bill Tchakirides have set the adventures to music, creating an opera that will enchant children and adults alike.

The Gigue Saws

The Gigue Saws are Paolo and Erica Marks of Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Paolo and Erica—both classically trained cellists—are equally at home playing Bach’s Gigues in a parlor, and folk jigs on a porch. A luthier by trade—Paolo also saws on violins, literally. He is known for his original, inventive tunes on the fiddle as well as his finely crafted violins, violas, and cellos. Paolo and Erica have collected tunes and musical ideas on travels throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South America and are currently heavily under the influence of local traditional music of Pocahontas County. The Gigue Saws occasionally expand to include siblings who have international careers as musicians.
