 Small Wonders Group Show December 1, 2009 – December 31, 2009

During the month of December, The Art Store will host “Small Wonders” featuring new works by Katherine Kadish, Harold Edwards, Ellie Schaul, Helen Chilton, as well as many of our gallery artists. Handmade Holiday ornaments will be on display. The Art Store is featuring many new crafts during this holiday season such as the lush, Oriental inspired pottery by Bradley Birkhiemer. Many fine gifts and small artworks will be available to take home to your friends and family this holiday season.

 All Seasons: Recent Landscape Paintings by Ron Boehmer

Ron Boehmer’s landscape paintings convincingly portray the familiar surroundings of our region. The subjects of his paintings, whether a farm, byway, river bed, open meadow or interior woodland, are never romanticized, but rendered with sensitivity and honesty. Boehmer transforms linen canvases into contemplative moments that like their subjects, merit repeated visits.

Boehmer is a Graduate of the MFA program at Pennsylvania University, where he studied under Neil Welliver, the 20th century’s noted dean of American landscape painting, as well as Figurative artist Paul Georges.         Callen McJunkin Gallery

• Inspiration (up to 5,000 words, poetry or prose)
• Scripts (All lengths, stage plays, screenplays)

• Nonfiction (up to 5,000 words). Includes article, essay and memoir
• Children’s Books and Full-Length Books for youths to age 16. Submit 3 chapters or up to 5,000 words and a l-page synopsis.
• Humor (up to 5,000 words). Prose or poetry.
• Appalachian Writing (up to 5,000 words). Prose or poetry.
• Book Length Prose. Fiction or Non-Fiction. Submit up to 7,500 words and a 1-page synopsis.
• Long Poetry: Poetry 21 lines, maximum 4 pages in length; any form.
• Short Poetry: Poetry 20 lines or shorter in length; any form.
• Short Story: Fiction (up to 5,000 words).
• Emerging Writers: Poetry. Any poetry form, any length up to 4 pages.
• Emerging Writers: Prose (up to 5,000 words). Specify fiction or nonfiction
